We made it! A beautiful day in Blenheim, enjoying the scenery and remembering Eloise. We made £3,724. Thanks to everyone who supported us. Adam & Rachel

Picking up the post in Cortijo Grande

25th May 2024
And belatedly, a (kind of) running story. I jogged past this spot while training in Spain in April and it reminded me of a silly episode on an earlier family holiday. I had been sent to put a postcard in the letter box to Cindy’s brother and family in Australia. On returning to the house I saw the stamps still on the table. After general discussion of my shortcomings, Eloise and I went back to the postbox in a forlorn attempt to try to recover the card, so that we could put on the postage. Miraculously, while we were standing there speculating on how we might achieve this, a van drew up with the postman paying his extremely occasional visit. To Eloise’s embarrassment, I explained the situation in appalling Spanish and sign language, and the situation was retrieved. It’s a special memory, partly because only the two of us were there, and because it was typical of Eloise to volunteer on this hopeless quest and to ensure that I didn’t mess up again!

Swimming in Andalucía

25th April 2024
Eloise was a great swimmer and loved to swim. I’ve just done a 750m training swim at this pool at Miraflores campsite near to our regular holiday home in Andalucía. I have fond memories of Eloise doing plenty of laps of this short pool, swimming dolphin lengths underwater and, very patiently, with Francis, teaching me how to do a racing turn in full knowledge that I would have forgotten again by the time of our next visit.

Remembering Eloise swimming, cycling and running

14th April 2024
While Eloise didn't get to do a triathlon, I have very fond memories of her in all three disciplines. She was a fantastic swimmer, and famously crushed me in a 50m medley race on holiday in Spain. I remember teaching Eloise to cycle in Finsbury Park - she got the hang of it on the same day as Kirsty (bit of sibling rivalry there) and we bought her a yellow bike on her 14th birthday, which she would pedal laconically around Clissold Park. Running wasn't really her thing, but we had some happy days doing sponsored runs in Battersea and the Olympic Park. I'll see if I can dig out a few on topic photos before the triathlon. Here's one of Eloise on her first bicycle for starters.
