A Walk in Memory of Eloise

Created by Adam 19th April 2019 This event has closed

Story

The Land family are planning to walk over the Easter weekend, from GreenAcres - Seer Green, where Eloise's ashes are scattered, back home to London via the Thames Path route. Easter Sunday will mark a year since Eloise's tragic death, this will be a difficult time, but one which we would like to use to remember Eloise while enjoying some fresh air and walking. The walk is approximately 80 miles, and should take around 4 days. If you would like to make a donation to mark the event, we would like to suggest joining together with the half marathon that Adam is running in May for the children’s mental health charity Carefree Kids. You can find details and make a donation at https://mydonate.bt.com/events/carefreerunners/477489 Or alternatively, if you prefer, use this site to make to Young Minds. We would also welcome any friends (ours or Eloise's) who would like to catch up with us and join us for any part of the walk, or just meet up for lunch or coffee along the way. If you are interested in doing so please make contact with one of us so that we can make a plan.

Thank you

So many thanks to everyone who helped make this Easter so magical. While it was an immeasurably sad anniversary, your friendship, love and support was a great comfort. Maybe next year we’ll walk to Oxford...

Easter Monday

15th April 2019
On the final day of our Easter walk, we will be setting off from the South side of Chiswick Bridge at 9.30. We will be passing by Hammersmith at around 11.15 and should get to Putney at around 12.15. We plan to stop for a picnic lunch (please bring your own lunch) at Battersea Park near the pagoda, where we will be between 1.30 and 2.30. Our route home will take us via Vauxhall Bridge (around 3.30) to Blackfriars (around 4.30) from where we will head North to Finsbury Park. We hope to get back for around 7pm. Please get in touch with any of us if you would like to meet up on that day.

Easter Sunday

15th April 2019
It will be an early start on Sunday from Shepperton. We will be passing by Sunbury-on-Thames at around 9.30 and will probably get to Hampton Court at around 11.15. We will stop for a picnic lunch in Kingston (please bring your own lunch) between 12.30 and 1.30, which is probably the most convenient time to meet up. We will be in Canbury Gardens, near to the bandstand. We will be passing through Richmond at around 3.30 and will reach Kew Green for some outdoor refreshments and reflections at around 5.30. Please get in touch with one of us if you would like to meet up on that day.

Saturday

15th April 2019
On the Saturday, we will be meeting in front of Windsor station and will set off at 9.30. We will be passing through Sunnymede at around 11, and will stop for a picnic lunch at Staines-upon-Thames (please bring your own lunch). We should be at the Riverside Memorial Gardens in Staines between 1 and 2 pm. The afternoon's walk will pass by Chertsey at around 3.30 and will conclude at Shepperton. Please contact any of us, if you would like to meet up that day.

Good Friday

15th April 2019
We will start our walk to remember Eloise at Greenacres near Seer Green, her final resting place. We aim to get there for around 10am to meet outside the Woodland Hall, where her funeral service was held. We will then go down to the beautiful clearing where we scattered her ashes for a quiet moment, and the walk will start at 10.30 am. We are planning to stop for lunch at the Spade Oak pub in Bourne End between 1 and 2.30, so that is probably the most convenient place to meet up mid-route. We will be passing by Maidenhead at around 4.30 and the day's walking will conclude at Windsor. Please get in touch with any of us if you would like to join us that day.
