The Beacon

During the October half term break in 2016 you were transferred from the Highfield Unit in Oxford, to the Beacon Unit in North London.  We were all both excited and nervous.  It was a huge step for you after spending 9 months in one environment, but you were much more stable and we were really looking forward to having you so much closer to home and being able to see you every day.  At first it all seemed very scarey, as the Highfield hadat first.  The atmosphere was very different, no doubt partly due to proximity to the city and it was very daunting.  But you soon became used to it, and whilst clearly you spent some very difficult and sad times there, we also experienced a lot of happiness and love there. The Beacon has a place in my heart, and even though I may not always have agreed with all decisions, I will always remember it as a caring place where the staff were not afraid to show love along side their professionalism.  You made some wonderful friendship with lovely young people, struggling just like you, but able to offer each other support and love through difficults times.
