Shortly after I’d learned to drive, Kate and I came over to visit Eloise and family in a hire car. Luckily, there was a clear space outside their house; unluckily Eloise was watching from the window. The process of parallel parking took roughly as long as the drive itself and involved what was perhaps a forty point turn; when we’d finally got the car parked we looked up to see Eloise crying with laughter in the window, and together with Kirsty and Adam, holding up “Strictly” style scoring cards to rate the parking.
